The world today is made up of many communities. Many communities consider themselves a part of nation-states, those territorial and political entities which exercise a monopoly on force within certain geographic areas. These states possess juridical statehood, but do not necessarily exhibit empirical statehood. They are called First, Second and Third World nations, and are considered part of the Official World.

There are also communities that don't consider themselves part of nation-states, don't consider themselves part of the Official World, and some are territorial, some virtual, and some something of a world in between.

A Fourth World nation is nation without a significantly recognised state. Fourth World nations can be of any population size, any territorial size, and can thus be sometimes confused with micronations. The term Fourth World nation can be used interchangeably with the term self-determination or secessionist group.

At other end of the non-Official World spectrum, a Sixth World nation is a small nation, usually based on the Internet. The term Sixth World nation can be used interchangeably with the term micronation, although it was recently discovered that most nations that call themselves 'micronations', don't actually fall under that category.

A Fifth World nation, on the other hand, is a small nation with a strong and established national identity. The Fifth World nation can be either territorial or virtual, ethnic or nonethic, so it is actually midway in characteristics between the Fourth and Sixth Worlds. A Fifth World nation is a mature micronation. The term Fifth World nation can be used interchangeably with the term social identity or irredentist group.

The Micronational Professional Registry (MPR) is an alternative national, or non-Official World community resource. The MPR provides Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Worlders with up-to-date information on real professionals operating within the Official World in various capacities, but who also hold authentic Fourth, Fifth, or Sixth World citizenship.

There is no real or substantial micronational economy of any scope today, and part of the reason is the hobbyistic nature of many micronations. Another reason is simply because many micronations are not real communities in of themselves (i.e., they are not real micronations), nor are they evolving in that direction, and so there is really no formal "micronational community" that would fit anyone's litmus test.

However, there are also many micronations that are very serious, and certainly most Fifth World nations are, yet their efforts are muffled by 'seventh world' entities which are little more than teenager pastimes. There are also micronations which can be declared as real micronations, part of a real micronational community, and the MPR is certainly a subset of that of the real micronational community.

The MPR proposes to be at least the start of a micronational economic structure of some kind, by encouraging Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth World nations to make public the professionals or skilled semiprofessionals in their midst, so these can be sought when specific services or products are needed. This will, in time, provide Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Worlders with meaningful economic support, and also promote community among different nations.

The MPR also represents a real micronational community, run by real and professional people, not average children, teens, or youths who are not serious, and are merely seeking an outlet for their frustrations against their parents, teachers, and/or employers. The MPR exists not to run away from reality, but to foster the development of a real alternative national community.

Based on the endorsement of qualified MPR members, the MPR recognises several nations, jurisdictions, micronations, universities, schools, associations, companies, even royal families. MPR recognition implies that the minimal criteria for any relationship has been met. MPR recognition does not imply diplomatic recognition (it is de facto, rather than de jure recognition), but only that minimal professional and/or academic criteria have been met, and the MPR can reasonably certify that the professional, organisation, institution, micronation, or nation exists. The MPR also issues independent intellectual property instruments such as Print Monopolies (PM), Enterprise Names (εν), Enterprise Marks (εµ), and MPR Patents (π). So far, three books with valid individual International Standard Book Numbers (ISBN) have been published with the MPR's Print Monopoly (PM) standard, including the book, The Fifth World: Micronationalism on Steroids. While the MPR is supported by several Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth World governments, it is important to note that the MPR is not a government Agency, but an independent Agency whose primary purpose is the development of an independent Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth World economy, and a micronational community following Good Community criteria, and the universal Ethic of Reciprocity. The MPR is not to be used, and should not be used as a taxing Agency for any government, nor should be held responsible to any government in that capacity. Any tax obligations, or other professional obligations if present and legitimate, are the sole responsibility of the professionals and companies themselves. The MPR exists solely to stimulate Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth World economic activity by promoting Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth World professionals and companies.
